Actress Ha Ji Won shared her reason why she decided to film the MBC Monday Tuesday drama "Empress Ki." On February 5, 2014, the production team of the MBC Monday Tuesday drama "Empress Ki" shared an interview video of actress Ha Ji Won who plays Ki Seung Nyang in the drama on their official homepage. In the interview, Ha Ji Won said, "I like the genre of historical films and dramas very much. 'Empress Ki' is a story that has never been dealt before, so I was curious as to what kind of a person she was. I am sure the audiences had the same type of curiosity." Ha Ji Won later then said, "I decided to film the drama after reading the synopsis, so I had a lot to prepare to perfectly act out the woman called Ki Seung Nyang. Starting from ballet to horseback riding, and archery, I tried to master everything that Ki Seung Nyang would do in the drama."
