There is word that George Zimmerman will remain in the public's eye for a while longer.
Zimmerman, who was acquitted of Trayvon Martin's murder, will be boxing with DMX in March (possibly the 15th), although no official contract has been signed yet.
Zimmerman has mentioned that boxing was a hobby for him, explaining that "Prior to the incident, I was actually going to the gym for weight loss and doing boxing-type training for weight loss."
A friend of Zimmerman put him in contact with Damon Feldman, owner of Celebrity Boxing. An hour after news hit that Zimmerman would be participating in the ring, Feldman's e-mail was "overloaded with 8,000 people wanting to fight with George."
George Zimmerman simply stated that he saw the match as "an opportunity and motivation to get back in shape and also be able to help a charity out."
He doesn't seem to realize what DMX has in store for him.
Rapper DMX has stated "I would not be boxing for me. I'd be boxing for the legacy of Trayvon Martin and for his family. I would box him to knock him out. I would definitely take pleasure in it. It's legal, and I want to show him you can solve your disputes without a weapon."
The actor continued by saying that he'd be boxing on behalf of "every black person who has been done wrong in the system."
He even went on to add that he'd take it as far urinating on Zimmerman after the fight.
Not everyone is excited by the opportunity to see Zimmerman receiving punches. Rev. Al Sharpton told a Los Angeles group that he was "concerned about the precedent that it sets."
He continued by saying "We must be very careful not to glorify or in any way sidestep the implications of making someone whose only claim to fame was killing an unarmed young man Trayvon Martin into a cultural celebrity or hero."
