Fans were devastated after BBC show executive producer and co-creator Steven Moffat hinted that the Sherlock Holmes season 4 premiere might not drop until 2016.
"We'll do what we can, but with no sacrifice in quality - that's the thing," Moffat said in an IGN interview. "It's not the kind of show that turns up all the time, it's just not. But the good news is, that probably means it will turn up sporadically for a very, very long while."
"If people have to wait two years, they'll have to wait two years," he added.
But the show must go on, as the creators of the BBC Sherlock Holmes series confirmed at a BAFTA press screening that Season 4 is already plotted out.
One of the main reasons why it will take 2 years for the beloved detective show to be produced is the rising demands of the show's main stars. Lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who recently took home the "TV Detective award" at the National televisions Award, is going to be part of Sergie Bodrov crime movie "Blood Mountain."
While "Watson" star Steven Moffat has his hands full to finish The Hobbit trilogy, Steven Moffat is also directing the new sci-fi series of Doctor Who with new Time Lord Peter Capaldi.
Another show that have kept Cumberbatch busy for at least one episode is Sesame Street. The "Sherlock Holmes" actor was asked by Count Von Count to help him solve a "brainbending challenge."
The Sesame Street video poked fun at the lead characters' popular crime-drama show by letting him act along a furry character called Murray-arty. Cumberbatch at one point admitted that "I'm not really Sherlock, I just play him on the television" before bringing in the Count to help solve the puzzle.
The Sesame Street video was shot in January and uploaded on YouTube.
