Dumb Starbucks has opened in a mall in Los Angeles on Friday.
The company, which has nothing to do with the real Starbucks, has been gaining attention for mocking the ever so popular coffee chain.
A spokesman for Starbucks has expressed displeasure by writing an e-mail to The Washington Post, "We are evaluating next steps and while we appreciate the humor, they cannot use our name, which is a protected trademark."
According to the Los Angeles Times, those responsible for the sign have stated, "We are simply using their name and logo for marketing purposes. By adding the word 'dumb' we are technically 'making fun' of Starbucks, which allows us to use their trademarks under a law known as 'fair use.'"
The store, to the dismay of Starbucks, has been attracting people left and right as it gives coffee away for free.
Dumb Starbucks, located in Los Feliz, had two workers in their incredibly crowded store as merchandise was delivered throughout the afternoon.
In a Los Angeles Times interview, a customer, Jeffrey Eyster joked, "They're definitely not serving at Starbucks' pace" when he hadn't even made it to the door, despite waiting in line for an hour.
Multiple selfies and photos have been shot as word of Dumb Starbucks and its menu consisting of Dumb Iced Coffee, Dumb Frappuccinos and Wuppy Duppy Latte has gotten out.
The company is serving their drinks in green and white cups with the Starbucks logo laced with the word "dumb" on it.
Various rumors have been circulating about Dumb Starbucks.
Is it a competitor, a full-on joke, or maybe even Starbucks itself?
No one seems to have an answer.
