Downton Abbey Season 5: Matt Damon May Join Show, Richard E. Grant And Anna Chancellor Become New Cast Member As Season 4 Hits Record High With 15 Million Viewers In U.S.

"Downton Abbey" Season 5 is getting additions to its talented cast. One of which might be Matt Damon.

The 43-year-old actor expressed that he would love to be a part of the hit British series, according to ENSTARS.

During a live interview on Absolute Radio posted on Thursday, "The Bourne Identity" actor answered the question of whether he "would be upstairs or downstairs."

The actor said "Wherever they would like to put me, each would be a challenge."

He continued that his wife is a huge fan of the show and stated, "She's literally out today touring. She wanted to tour the set."

ENSTARS reported that while there is always a chance for a new character for Damon, there is very little chance of any of the current characters leaving the show.

The writer of "Downton Abbey," Julian Fellows, stated that all his characters are "irreplaceable."

As for who will officially be joining the cast of season 5, E! News has revealed that Richard E. Grant will be joining as Simon Bricker, a gust of the Granthams who visits Downton Abbey.

Another addition will be Anna Chancellor, who will guest star as Lady Anstruther along with Rade Sherbedgia, who will play a Russian refugee.

Executive producer of the show, Gareth Neame, stated in a release that he is "delight to welcome these talented actors to the world of Downton. The characters they play are set to bring yet more excitement and intrigue to the show."

Returning guest cast members will include Dame Harriet Walter as Lady Shackleton and Peter Egan as Lord Flintshire.

Season 4 of "Downton Abbey" will wrap up in the US on Sunday, February 23 on PBS.

The 4th season of the series hit an ultra-high record with 15 million viewers in the U.S.

Season 5 will begin filming this month.
