Alex Turner Brit Awards Speech Creates Divide In Fans’ Reactions; Peaches Geldof Not Amused With The Arctic Monkeys Singer’s Antics, Ranted On Twitter!

British indie darlings Arctic Monkeys was the clear winner of the recent Brit Awards 2014, bagging two of the most coveted trophies of the night: "Best Album" for their critically-acclaimed album "AM" and "Best Group," besting X-factor discovery boy band One Direction.

They also opened the event with a riveting performance of their number 1 single "R U Mine" in London's O2 arena.

It was Alex Turner's speech though that made headlines as he offered his thoughts about his favorite genre. He was quoted saying:

"That rock 'n'roll, eh? That rock'n'roll, it just won't go away. It might hibernate from time to time, sink back into the swamp. I think the cyclical nature of the universe in which it exists demands that acquiesce to some of its rules. But it's always waiting there, just around the corner. Ready to make its way back through the sludge and smash through the glass ceiling, looking better than ever. Yeah, that rock'n'roll, it seems like it's faded away sometimes, but it will never die. And there's nothing you can do about it."

He then dropped the microphone to the floor as he told the organizers to "invoice me for the microphone if you wanna."

Was it drunken ramblings or philosophical musings?

Viewers at home took to twitter what they think about the "Fluorescent Adolescent" singer's antics, and surprisingly, there were more negative reaction about it.

A certain Al Fox (@MrAIFox) tweeted: "Alex Turner's speech was contrived and pathetic. Anyone who believes he isn't as much of a corporate whore as One Direction is a fool."

Rob Howard (@robhoward) offered disappointed as he said: "It saddens me that I live in a world where I can wake up to people saying Alex Turner was anything other than a pompous tool last night."

There were a lot of sarcastic remarks too. Victoria Bamber (@SockWithSpots) lashed out: "#AlexTurner dropping a microphone at last night's #BRITs2014... Literally the most #RocknRoll thing I've ever seen. Ever."

The most direct attack was from fellow British celebrity Peaches Geldof. The popular TV Journalist and model made it known to the world through her twitter that he thinks Turner is "acting like a pure t**t #bethankfula**ehole," as reported by Mirror.

"He used to come across as such a sincere, intelligent and humble genuinely talented guy," she continued about the Arctic Monkeys' front man. "Now he's turned into an ungrateful t*** with glaring insecurity issues. "Invoice me for the mic? Why don't you shove it up your bum on the way out mate"

"The fans made you who you are today, don't be such an absolute t****r," Geldof concluded on her twitter.

The Arctic Monkeys camp has yet to respond.
