Marvel Studios will not be getting any rest this year as two of their biggest franchise are hitting the big screen this summer. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardian of the Galaxy" got its well-deserved adaptation, but speculations are buzzing more for the movie that is still on the planning stage - that of Doctor Strange.
It was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel has a shortlist of director candidates for the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, and it does not include obvious favorites like Guillermo del Toro or Tim Burton.
The four directors being eyed to adapt the sorcerer supreme's movie are Dean Isrealitte, Jonathan Levine, Mark Andrews and Nokolaj Arcel.
Andrew is known for his work as the director of "Brave" but had been Pixar's go-to guy, which includes working as a story supervisor on "The Incredibles".
2013's "Warm Bodies" is Levine's ticket, which may showcase a right balance of supernatural and humor.
Danish filmmaker, Arcel is responsible for the Swedish version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and was recognized for his work on 2012's historical drama, "A Royal Affair."
Dean Isrealitte is the oddest choice here being a newcomer whose masterpiece is time travel film called "Welcome to Yesterday" released last year.
The script is also a big puzzle for the Marvel movie as the original draft written by Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly haven't received any confirmation if it is going to be used.
Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger are reportedly hired to take on the story, according to bleedingcool.com. The duo's popular works consists of the Kung fu Panda films and the second Spongebob Squarepants movie.
Stan Lee expressed excitement over these developments. In a CNN interview, Mr.Marvel Universe revealed that he "can't wait to see Dr. Strange and the Black Panther." Lee also hinted that the characters he mentioned are really "in the works."
