The new KBS2 weekend drama "Wonderful Days" is off to a wonderful start, as far as the ratings go. The pilot episode of the drama recorded impressive nationwide Nielsen ratings of 30.3 percent.

The 50-episode drama "Wonderful Days" tells the story of Kang Dong Suk, played by Lee Seo Jin. Kang Dong Suk grew up poor but through hard work became a successful prosecutor. After 14 years he returns to his hometown and must resolve the troubled relationships he left behind. He attempts to mend relationships with members of his family and his first love Cha Hae Won, played by Kim Hee Sun.

While Kang Dong Suk has achieved personal success, his personal life needs more than a little mending.

2PM's Ok Taecyeon plays Kang Dong Hee, his younger brother. Kang Dong Hee, who works as a bodyguard, does not find it easy to reconcile with his long-separated sibling. Although they live in different worlds now, the two brothers must find a way to get along and forget about the past.

Despite his character's tough onscreen persona, Taecyeon has made a sweet promise that may further improve the show's ratings. The singer-actor promises to give out free hugs to viewers if the show's ratings reach 50 percent. With 30.3 percent earned for the drama's first episodes, he may want to get his arms in even better shape for that series of promised hugs.

Lee Seo Jin is best known for his roles in the dramas roles in "Damo," "Yi San" and "Phoenix." Kim Hee Sun last appeared in the drama "Faith: The Great Doctor" with Lee Min Ho. The actress also appeared in the dramas "Smile Again," "My Fair Lady," and "Sad Love Story."

Ok Taecyeon was recently seen as a police detective in the paranormal drama "Who Are You?" He also had roles in "Dream High" and "Cinderella's Sister."

The competition for "Wonderful Days," which includes the SBS drama "Thrice Married Woman," and the MBC weekend drama "Will You Love and Give It Away" did not even come close to its ratings.

"Golden Rainbow," starring Jung Il Woo and Uee, was not shown because of the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Along with the 50-episode "Empress Ki" and the almost-complete "You Who Came From The Stars," "Wonderful Days" was one of the week's most popular dramas. "Wang Family," which ran in the same time slot before it, reached ratings of over 40 percent.
