How I Met Your Mother fans are no stranger to spoilers but executive producers Craig Thomas and Carter Bays have been very careful to not spill anything about the much-awaited finale.
The most popular theory as we all know is that the "mother" character, played by Cristin Milioti, is possibly dead.
The latest episode that aired last March 3 gave out new clues that we shouldn't overlook. There was a scene which showed future Ted looking grim when the future Mother responded, "Of course she showed up... What mother is going to miss her daughter's wedding?" to his story which was about Robin's mother suddenly showing up on her wedding.
Mosby then burst into tears, a breakdown that can mean more than just a small, meaningless outburst.
Ted's reaction might just hinted more than we think - the mother might not be around during their daughter's wedding.
Another big bomb was dropped unexpectedly when ibtimes.com revealed that pictures during the shooting of the final episode showed Neil Patrick Harris' Barney Stinson not wearing a suit, a very rare occurrence. If you have been a long-time fan, you will know that Stinson has a rather eccentric rule that he does not wear suits during funerals.
HIMYM fans took to twitter what the speculations meant to them.
A certain user named George G Smith wrote: "Okay pretty sure #himym just revealed the saddest thing ever."
Lura (@laurzz6) obviously does not approve the ending, tweeting: "himym you are not in my good books with that ending right now. No you are not. No no no. no. NO. #himym."
Which @GeogreGSmithJr then responded: "I won't be happy, but it would be beautiful, but tragic, writing for all these seasons. It would all make sense."
Jarett Wiselman (@JarettSays) said: "I knew it -- still, can't believe #HIMYM is going there....."
Connecting the dots may lead us to the conclusion that there won't be any better-or sadder- ending but to finish off with something for people to contemplate to. We can't deny though that these are still open speculations, and with four episodes more lined up, who knows what other magic the writers have on their sleeves.
I guess we just have to wait for the 1-hour long How I Met Your Mother finale this March 31 to find that out.
