The much-awaited Marvel movie will hit the theaters on May 23 and fans of the mutant heroes still want to hear more X-Men Days of Future Past spoilers. Two of the major characters in the film franchise, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, talk about how they got involved in this movie and their current roles.

In an interview with BuzzFeed Brews, Stewart revealed how he got the role of Professor Xavier. He said, "I was not approached by Bryan (Singer), but I was at Warner Bros. one day doing some ADR, and I got a note saying would you go and see Lauren Shuler Donner in her office, who was the wife of the man whose film I was doing ADR for, Richard Donner, who directed it."

The British actor added, "And so I went to see her, and the door was open, and she said 'Yes, come on in.' And as I walked in, she held up what was clearly a Marvel comic book and said nothing. And my reaction was, 'What am I doing on the front of that comic book?' And she said, 'Exactly'."

The 73-year old actor admitted that he initially turned down the role because he just finished Star Trek. However, the X-Men director was able to convince him. He said, "Bryan, the smooth talking bastard that he is, persuaded me that it would all be very different this time. And indeed it has been."

One of the most controversial X-Men Days of Future Past spoilers is when the mutants were compared to gays. When Ian McKellen was offered the role of Magneto, he was shown the comics and the costume of the character. But what made him accept that project is what Bryan Singer told him. The actor, who has admitted in public that he is gay, said, "I was sold when Bryan said mutants are like gays, they are cast out by society for no good reason."

So what's new with Professor X and Magneto? Stewart said, "There was a little short scene (after the credits of the last X-Men franchise) that dropped a hint that perhaps the good professor was not gone for good. And so I took that as a happy sign that I might be resurrected."

McKellen revealed, "I don't have to wear a helmet, and if you think about it, why doesn't Magneto wear a helmet in this movie?" He added, "That's a clue to what's going to go in the movie." I'm sure that got you all thinking, right? Don't worry, we will keep you updated with more X-Men Days of Future Past spoilers in the coming days.
