On Tuesday, the Kim Soo-hyun Korea & Global Fan Union released a joint statement condemning the brand, referred to as "Brand A" in local reports, for what they described as "secondary harm against a crime victim" and "a severe violation of privacy."

"This represents a clear case of secondary harm against a crime victim and a severe violation of privacy," the statement read.

"It is extremely unjust and irrational for a company that profited off Kim Soo-hyun's image to file such a suit against a victim who had no role in the crisis."

The backlash follows a South Korean court's approval of Brand A's request to temporarily seize one of Kim's luxury properties, located in the upscale Galleria Forêt complex in Seoul.

The company filed the request, citing alleged damages stemming from a breach of advertising contract, following Kim's name being linked to defamatory claims made on the controversial YouTube channel HoverLab (Garo Sero Institute).

Kim's legal team has denied any wrongdoing, stating that the actor became "a victim of false information and manipulated content" spread by HoverLab and others.

His lawyer, Bang Sung-hoon of LKB & Partners, said in a statement, "At a time when it's increasingly evident that Kim Soo-hyun is the victim of false claims, the fact that he continues to face secondary harm is extremely regrettable."

The fan union criticized the brand's handling of the case, asserting that responsibility lies with those who spread defamatory content, not with the actor.

"Taking legal action against the victim is ethically indefensible," they added.

The fans also expressed outrage that Kim's personal information was exposed during the legal process.

Many supporters first encountered the brand through Kim's endorsement campaigns, which fueled feelings of betrayal.

"If image damage or breach of contract was the concern, the responsibility should lie with those who spread false information, not the actor himself," the fan union stated.

The controversy originates from claims made on HoverLab regarding an alleged relationship between Kim and actress Kim Sae-ron before she reached the legal age of consent—allegations that Kim's side has firmly denied.

His team maintains that the two began dating in 2019 and are currently pursuing legal action against both the channel and individuals involved.

Kim's agency filed a separate provisional seizure request against Kim Se-eui, the operator of HoverLab, as part of a defamation suit seeking 12 billion KRW (approximately USD 8.8 million) in damages. The court also approved that request.

Kim Soo-hyun, one of Korea's highest-paid actors, recently starred in the popular drama series "Queen of Tears."

His agency has not issued a public comment regarding the fans' statement or the threatened boycott.

The case continues to spark debate over corporate accountability, celebrity privacy, and the consequences of digital misinformation in South Korea's high-stakes entertainment industry.
