L'Wren Scott Death: Apparent Suicide Points To Business Troubles

L'Wren Scott's death from an apparent suicide seems to have been caused by business troubles. The fashion designer, stylist, and Mick Jagger's girlfriend was reportedly in debt by the millions, and was plagued by problems regarding her company.

Scott was found dead hanging from a scarf tied to a doorknob in her Manhattan apartment on Monday. The stylish brunette was found by her assistant, who she reportedly sent a text message to come hours before.

Reports say that Scott's suicide most likely stemmed from her business dilemmas. The designer's London-based business, LS Fashion Ltd., was in debt for more than $6 million. Despite a recent collaboration with Banana Republic, having the support of A-listers like Sarah Jessica Parker, and having a number of high-profile celebrities such as Amy Adams, Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman wearing her clothes, her brand was not a commercial success. Late last year, she had made her adopted brother a director in her company, which was said to have been a move to help her with her financial troubles. She then decided not to show at New York Fashion Week despite being a participant for years, and opted for a London show instead. She eventually cancelled her runway show at London Fashion Week last January as well, citing production problems.

The former model is said to have never asked for financial help from her multimillionaire rockstar boyfriend Jagger. Just months before her death, Scott had seemed very happy back in December with her boyfriend. She spent the holidays with him at Jagger's home in Mystique.

The Rolling Stone singer was in Australia for a tour with his band when he learned of his girlfriend's death, and has since flown to New York. He is "completely shocked and devastated", according to his representative. Jagger's model daughter, Georgia May, who is known to have been close to Scott, has cancelled her appearance at Melbourne Fashion Week.
