Wayne Knight was surprised to know that he had apparently died in a car accident.
According to CNN, a recent death hoax caused fans to believe that the "Seinfeld" actor had been killed in a car crash on Route 446 in Pennsylvania.
The actor took to Twitter over the weekend to calm friends, family and fans down and notify them they he is, in fact, alive.
Knight wrote, "Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but ... I am alive and well."
The actor comically added, "Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez! Thanks for all the love everybody. I didn't know you cared. Glad to be breathing!"
While Wayne Knight regains the attention of fans, it has been reported that someone did actually die recently at the site that was mentioned in the death hoax.
The Buffalo (New York) News reports that Lindsay M. Schmit was killed when her Chevrolet Malibu crossed the centerline on Route 446 and was struck by a tractor-trailer.
It has been reported that Schmit's fiancé, Christopher Johnston, and her 2-year-old son, Carter Pontius, were also in the car and critically injured.
Wayne Knight sent his condolences to 26-year-old Schmit's family on Twitter as well. The star wrote, "Regrets to my friends and family who were shocked this morning and the family of the woman who actually died in my 'supposed' accident."
TMZ. Today, a fake site that has no affiliation with TMZ also reportedly posted a report of another death hoax that former "Family Ties" child star Brian Bonsall had died of a drug overdose.
Bonsall also took to Twitter to write, "Well apparently I'm dead, lol but I'll have you know I'm doing well and enjoying a cup of coffee at home."
Actors Brad Pitt, Charlie Sheen, Christian Slater and Adam Sandler have also experienced the cruel celebrity death hoax fate in the past.
