Gauntlet is set to return summer 2014.

Joystiq has announced that the original co-op dungeon crawler, which is currently announced for Steam on PC at this time, will also have full support for SteamOS and Steam Machines.

Warner Bros. has revealed that the "completely modernized action RPG" will be part of its direct-to-digital WB Games Vault portfolio.

The initiative will reportedly deliver downloadable games based on WB and Midway arcade brands, along with original intellectual properties "across multiple digital networks."

According to Geeky Gadgets, the 2014 edition of Gauntlet is being developed by Arrowhead Game Studio and will provide classic Gauntlet four-player co-op action game play for a Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie and Elf.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has revealed, "With Gauntlet, we combined the arcade style of the original game with an entirely new look."

The statement continued, "Gauntlet will be the first title of WB Games Vault portfolio, which will provide us with an opportunity to access emerging talent within the game development community and match unique skills and experience with our extensive library of properties."

It seems like fans aren't the only ones excited about the upcoming release date for Gauntlet.

Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios, explained, "To us at Arrowhead, Gauntlet is one of the most defining games from our childhoods, and it's amazing to be able to work with Warner Bros. Interactive on a brand new version."

Gauntlet 2014 has a release date set during the summer months of this year.

A more exact release date will be revealed in the near future.
