Johnny Weir And Husband Split: Sochi Commentator Makes Shocking Twitter Announcement While Details Of Domestic Violence Case Surfaces

Johnny Weir and his husband have split up.

The NBC commentator for the Sochi Winter Olympics decided to share the news via Twitter on Wednesday.

Weir wrote, "It is with great sadness that I announce that my husband and I are no longer together. My heart hurts, and I wish him well."

In a statement obtained by RadarOnline, the 29-year-old figure skater explained, "I have been sad for a long time. And unfortunately don't foresee a way to resolve our current marital issues."

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Sochi commentator and his lawyer husband, Victor Voronov, got married during a small ceremony in New York in 2011 on New Year's Eve.

The skater recently stated that his husband had only been out for a month before the wedding.

He spoke to Access Hollywood about his marriage, saying, "A marriage between two guys is different than what I imagine a marriage between a man and a woman."

The stylish skater continued, "I mean, we're both constantly trying to fight to wear the pants in the relationship ... It's constant fireworks. It's very boom, boom, boom."

It has been reported that the problems between the two were evident from their domestic abuse case back in January.

Jonny Weir's husband reportedly filed a police report accusing the successful Sochi commentator of biting him during an argument.

The pair appeared in New Jersey court together and requested that the case be dismissed, which it eventually was on March 5.

Whether Johnny Weir and his husband will remain separated or begin the divorce process is still unclear.
