There has been a devastating status update on the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

It was announced Monday night that Flight 370 had crashed into a remote corner of the Indian Ocean.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak stated that the data shows that the jetline flew "to a remote location, far from any possible landing sites."

He continued with a status update, "It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, Flight MH370 in the Southern Indian Ocean."

According to CBS News, based on the evidence from an unprecedented analysis of satellite data, it has been determined that it would be impossible that any of the passengers and crew on board the jetliner could have survived.

Family members of the passengers that were on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 were understandably shocked to hear that they would never see their loved ones again.

Medical teams arrived with stretchers as several family members were carried out of the conference room in a state of shock after the status update for the missing flight.

Relatives of Chinese passengers aboard the flight reportedly read out a statement calling for Malaysia Airlines and Malaysia's government to be held accountable.

The next step for officials is to find the "pinger" located inside the black box of the plane.

Officials have reportedly stated that the plane automatically sent a "ping" every hour to a satellite belonging to Inmarsat, even after other communication systems on the jetliner shut down.

The battery life of the "pinger" has less than two weeks before it runs out.

It has been reported that an Australian navy support vessel, the Ocean Shield, was sent out on Monday with acoustic detection equipment that can search for the black box.

A black box locator is reportedly also being sent in case a debris field is located.

Our thoughts go out to the families and friends of the 239 passengers and crew on board Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.
