"Make Your Move," the film starring BoA and Derek Hough of "Dancing With The Stars," had its Hollywood premiere this week. The film about star-crossed dancers caught up in a New York club rivalry opened at the Pacific Theaters at the Grove.

It's a Romeo and Juliet story, which pairs the two stars as dancers from very different backgrounds. BoA, who has been called the Queen of Korean Pop, plays Aya, a woman who heads a hip-hop dance crew. Hough plays her love interest.

He was so eager to play her love interest that he took off a season from "Dancing With The Stars" to be in the film. In the film the dancers meet at a dancing competition, fall in love, but then get caught up in the rivalry between two competing underground dance clubs.

BoA is best known as a singer but the film gives her an opportunity to show off a range of dancing skills, from hip hop moves to tap dancing.

Since it is her first majo rrole, it also gave her a chance to show off her acting skills. Before "Make Your Move," she had only filmed a cameo appearance in "Athena: Goddess of War," done the voiceover for the animated film "Over The Hedge," and played herself in the documentary "I Am."

Since the film was shot, she has appeared in a mini k-drama "Expecting Romance" with Daniel Choi.

The fact that she sold 10 million records during her singing career did not make BoA feel any more confident about branching out into acting. Even after appearing in the film, the actress was nervous about acting in the two-episode romantic comedy, which was her first time acting in Korea. But the reviews were positive and she felt encouraged.

Another skill she got to demonstrate in the film was her facility with languages. The singer speaks English and Japanese as well as Korean. She has even recorded in Mandarin for her fans in China.

Originally titled "Cobu 3D," the film was directed by Duane Adler, who also directed the film "Save the Last Dance" and the "Step Up" series. Robert Cort, who produced the films "Jumanji" and "Runaway Bride," is the producer. Singer Yunho from TVXQ makes a cameo appearance and Korean-American actor Will Yun Lee also has a role.

BoA's Korean fans will be able to see the film on April 17. American fans can see it on April 18.
