James Franco made an unfortunate mistake on Instagram recently.
He not only tried to hook up with a 17-year-old girl, but he also forgot that social media is a place where every interaction is shared with the public.
The Blemish has reported that the 35-year-old actor tried to pick up Lucy Clode, who came to visit NYC for her 18th birthday from Scotland.
17-year-old Clode had taken an Instagram video of the "Of Mice and Men" star. Franco requested that she tag him in it when she puts it up, which was all he needed to message her.
That's when the inappropriate flirting began.
The interactions include Franco asking if the teenage girl has a boyfriend as well as asking which hotel she's staying at.
He even goes on to ask if he should rent a room, despite the fact that she told him she's in NYC with her mom.
When Lucy wrote, "Well this is a story my Scottish friends will never believe," the James Franco creepily responded with, "Don't tell."
The interactions have been further proven to be true as James Franco added on his Instagram, "Please don't DM if you are under 18. Thank you."
He seemed to be annoyed by the fact that 17-year-old Lucy didn't believe that he was truly James Franco, something we're sure he's never had to deal with.
As this Instagram scandal makes the rounds, attention is also brought to the new project that James Franco is heavily involved in.
The first trailer of his drama "Palo Alto" debuted on Yahoo Movies. E! News reports that the film is based on the actor's book of short stories.
The movie, directed by Gia Coppola, tells the story of a group of high school students in California.
James Franco plays a high school soccer coach who hooks up with one of his teen players played by Emma Roberts.
"Palo Alto" will be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 24 and at the San Francisco international Film Festival on May 3.
