The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes teaser photos are here and the hype is real, ladies and gentlemen.
In the photos we see Caesar wielding a shotgun and we see the dominance of the Apes as we them in riding horses.
"We've got apes on horses," director Matt Reeves tells USA Today. "There is a sense in the beginning of the movie that apes have inherited the Earth. You see the species as it takes dominion over the planet. It's an ape-world. That's the fun of it."
Rise of the Planet of the Apes featured a human-dominated world in which Caesar, an ape, benefited from artificially enhanced intelligence.
In Dawn of the Planet of the Apes we see the story continue as the mixed band of primates led by Caesar take the upper hand after a virus wipes out the human population, including James Franco's character Will, who played a pivotal role as Caesar's surrogate father.
A band of surviving humans, led by Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, form a new colony in deserted San Francisco.
"The small group of humans are struggling to come back from devastation, and the apes are fighting for survival," says Reeves. "The big question is, can they co-exist?"
"We all know it doesn't become Planet of Humans and Apes," says Reeves. "It becomes Planet of the Apes. But this is that one moment of time where there is hope for humans."
The apes have a complicated, evolved society in Muir Woods as Caesar teaches everything from sign language to horseback skills.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes comes out July 11, 2014.
