People are finding out that celebrities are contributing funds to help out with the ferry accident and to console the families of the victims one by one. Starting with baseball player Ryoo Hyun Jin and actor Song Seung Hun on April 19, 2014, a lot of actors, actresses, and singers such as Song Hye Kyo, Kang Dong Won, Yoo Ah In, On Joo Wan, Park Jae Min, and Jung Il Woo gave for the ferry accident. From as small as ten thousand dollars to a hundred thousand dollars, Korean celebrities are helping out as much as they can for the ferry accident. When actors, actresses, and singers give to the volunteer organizations, the agencies of the actors, actresses, and singers are usually unaware of the contributions. Actor Jung Il Woo's agency Star K Entertainment said in an interview on April 21, 2014, "Actor Jung Il Woo made contributions for the ferry accident without letting the agency know. The managers here found out about it through reading the news about it." The employees at big star management companies and agencies said, "Actors, actresses, and singers are giving for this great cause without letting the agencies know. Even when we get to know about it later on, it is not something we would highlight or commercialize. Unless the news of actors, actresses, and singers giving for this great cause come out first, we do not plan to spread the news first handedly."
