Live Action Bakuman Film Confirmed; Rurouni Kenshin Actors Cast In Lead Roles

With the news started from the earlier Twitter buzz today, it is now confirmed that Bakuman, the manga series wherein the plot involves about manga-making process itself - will finally have a live-action film and is set to premiere in 2015.

The film will feature actors Takeru Satoh and Ryunosuke Kamiki in the lead roles namely Mashiro Moritaka and Akito Takagi. The movie follows the two schoolboys as they both try to achieve their dream to become mangakas; Mashiro draws the images while his classmate Akito provides the storyline. Both actors happen to co-star as Kenshin Himura and Sojiro Seta in the upcoming sequel of the Rurouni Kenshin film series,Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno.

Hitoshi Oune, who also did the movies Moteki, Koi no Uzu and The Vortex of Love, is set to direct the live action film, and according to Anime News Network one of the creators of Bakuman himself, Takeshi Obata, will also contribute as a staff member in the production.

Bakuman, written by Tsugumi Ohba and drawn by Takeshi Obata, was first serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from August 2008 to April 2012. It has a total of 176 chapters compiled into 20 volumes. The anime series were created by J.C. Staff and broadcasted on NHK from October 2010 to March 2013, covering three seasons with 25 episodes each.
