Kadokawa Shoten, one of biggest publishing companies in Japan and is well-known for releasing manga, anime, video games and magazines, is now more serious of having more of their anime titles set for online streaming in the future.

Japan's online media giant Dwango announced on Wednesday, May 7 that the plans for merging with Kadokawa have been finalized. As a result, more anime online streaming will be available to more Internet users worldwide as they plan to release the titles under a holding company. The initial plan is for Kadokawa to handle release of physical goods such as movies, anime, music albums, digital and physical books while Dwango will handle the release of digital media such as online music downloads and anime online streaming via Nico Nico Douga.

An official from Kadokawa will serve as the president of the upcoming company while an executive from Dwango will serve as the new representative director. It turns out that two companies already formed a capital partnership since 2011, with the plan to release media and anime online streaming initiated in 2010 as reported by Anime News Network.

By the looks of it, Nico Nico will be expected to have more users joining the website after this announcement. As of December 2013 Nico Nico Douga has a total of 37.58 million registered users, with 2.17 million under the premium membership program. Premium members of the website can enjoy unlimited video uploads and exclusive anime online streaming privileges.
