The tile of the upcoming MBC drama, "The Night Watchmen" might sound like its about a group of men, but that's no longer the case. Originally the drama was about three Joseon-era night watchmen and one woman who patrol the palace grounds from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to protect the inhabitants from ghosts. There was no word on whether the sole woman was disguised as a man.

However, the latest casting news from that drama is that the four ghost busters will now consist of two men and two women. Even if it's hard to imagine that the Joseon-era authorities would send women out to chase ghosts, increasing the number of female ghost chasers will definitely add more potential for romance to the mix of historical drama and fantasy.

The first actor to be cast in this drama was Jung Il Woo, last seen in the weekend drama "Golden Rainbow" with co-star Uee. He will play the role of the cool aloof Lee Rin, who has some claims to the throne. His character acquires the ability to see ghosts so he becomes a night watchman. And it's his interactions with ghosts that teach him about the important things in life.

The second male ghost chaser is a sword-wielding flower boy named Mu Seok.  TVXQ's Yunho, who last had a recurring role in the drama "Queen of Ambition," will play Mu Seok.

The two female leads have also been cast and they are both relative newcomers. Actress Go Sung Hee will play Do Ha, the female lead. She appeared in the 2013 film "The Ethics of Wrath and was a beauty pageant contestant in the drama "Miss Korea." Actress Seo Yae Ji, who appeared in "Potato Star," has also been confirmed for the role of Park Soo Ryeon.

While protecting the palace, the four characters will learn a lot about love and friendship.

Raemongreain, the company that produced "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" will produce "The Night Watchmen" and that may be one reason it has been called the "next Sungkyunkwan Scandal." There were four scholars in "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and there are four watchmen in "The Night Watchmen." Except of course that two of them are women.

"The Night Watchmen" follows "Triangle" on Monday and Tuesday nights beginning in July.

Yoo Dong Yoon, who wrote "King and I" is the drama's screenwriter. Lee Joo Hwan, who produced "Lights and Shadows," is the producers.
