Doctor Strange Movie Actor: Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Mads Mikkelson In Talks For 'Stephen Strange' Role? Johnny Depp As 'The Sorcerer Supreme' Debunked By Kevin Feige
Two talented actors are vying for the role of earth’s “Sorcerer Supreme” in Doctor Strange the movie.
Screenrant reports that "Don Jon" star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and "Hannibal" star Mads Mikkelson are among the contenders for the role of Stephen Strange.
This all happened when several comic book fans pleaded to Marvel Studios not to cast Johnny Depp as Doctor Strange in the movie as he was first allegedly linked to the character.
A blogger named "MalDonut" wrote a post on Reddit saying that.
"Johnny Depp can't carry movies any more. Every movie he is in so far has flopped like Lebron James on the Playoffs. He is like a curse. Dr. Strange would bomb if he is on the movie"
Moviefone reports that Kevin Feige denied the rumors of Depp being Stephen Strange.
"We're meeting a lot of people now," Feige admitted during an interview. "That article was not true about who we're meeting or what level anybody is. But we're actively looking."
Meanwhile Marvel studios hires “Sinister” director Scott Derrickson to helm Doctor Strange the movie.
According to reports from the Variety, Scott Derrickson was among the list of directors that Marvel wanted to hire for Doctor Strange the movie alongside "Warm Bodies" director Jonathan Levine, and "Brave" director Mark Andrews. Variety confirms that both Marvel and Derrickson are still in talks although sources claimed that "a deal should be struck shortly".
THR reports that Derrickson has signed on to direct Doctor Strange and tweeted a selfie on him holding a Doctor Strange comic book.

In an interview with Moviefone, Marvel president Kevin Feige expressed his excitement in having Doctor Strange in the big screen.
"I do think [Doctor] Strange is one that I certainly think you start off with his own movie," Feige said. "There's no right way or wrong way necessarily in the big picture, but because he's associated with such a different side of the Marvel Universe, to suddenly have our characters turn a corner and go, 'Oh, hey, let's go see the Sorcerer Supreme.' What? What are you talking about?"
