As the NBA finals 2014 are underway, rumors of Spurs' Tim Duncan's retirement cast a huge shadow over the matchup between the top eastern and western contenders, as the all-star power forward faces an angry Lebron James and Miami Heat.

"It will happen when it happens. I'll feel it and I'll know it and I'll call it a day," he told reporters Wednesday, according to NBC Sports.

ProBasketball's Kurt Helin wrote that Tim Duncan's retirement, if it does happen, will not be a big deal if the 38-year-old would have his way.

"If he retires, he will announce it in a press release and have to be dragged to a press conference to meet the media one more time. He'd do it without fanfare, without a farewell tour. He'd just fade away if he had his choice," Helin wrote.

However, even after the NBA finals 2014-win or lose-Tim Duncan's retirement might be delayed next season because he is still under contract for one more year, along with Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, so they might make a go at it one more time.

In NBA finals 2014, the Spurs are facing an angry Lebron James and Miami Heat determined to prove to everybody that last year's championship at the expense of Tim Duncan and coach Greg Popovich was no fluke.

"Absolutely (we feel slighted). I can't sit here and lie to you, we do. We feel slighted in the fact that it went seven. It went seven," Lebron James told CBS Sports. "It wasn't like it was 3-0 and you know, they had us in Game 4 and we took it and won four straight."

The three-time MVP said that both the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat put themselves in the best position to win, "but at the end of the day it doesn't take away that we did win last year."
