Assassin’s Creed: Unity Unveils New Co-Op Mode At E3! What New Features Did We See? Ubisoft Teases Fans With A Demo Trailer During The Event!

Assassin's Creed: Unity will be exclusive to PS4 and Xbox One, Ubisoft revealed today at Microsoft's E3 press event.

The next entry in the hit series will let four players join forces to rage against the Ancien Régime in Revolutionary France, yet another 18th century game environment developers promise will be the biggest yet.

Ubisoft credits the dramatic growth in world size to the capabilities of the new hardware, and it's hard not to cast memory back to GDC 2013 when the developers of Assassin's Creed 3 demonstrated some of the systems that had to be shut off or avoided due to hardware requirements.

The online four-player co-op drew quite a cheer from the audience, and is certainly one of the biggest mechanical changes to the stealth slasher since the series was born.

Seeing how thrilled the audience was, this definitely means Ubisoft North American president Laurent Detoc should give the game a go after saying they might delay the game if it was not good enough:

"You bring something fresh, but you have to bring quality too," he continued. "There's a lot of people who can play your game. We have fans who come back to the franchise and we're very thankful for them, because we think we're giving them a good game to play, and they give back to us when they buy it. But there's a lot more people out there who we can sell games to."

"I like to think that we don't delay everything," Detoc said. "It's the reason for the delay that really matters. It's a lot easier to predict the release of an Assassin's Creed, because we understand what it takes. It's a lot easier to predict a franchise that has more recurrence, for sure, than a new IP."

Assassin's Creed: Unity will be released on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A sister game called Assassin's Creed Comet is also targeted for a 2014 release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but has not been confirmed as of yet.

While this might look like the end for the series on previous generation machines, Ubisoft is rumored to be working on a separate game for Xbox 360 and PS3.
