Which of these tablet devices are the ideal purchase for consumers? We pit Apple's iPad 3 against Google's Nexus 10 to see which is better and user friendly.

In terms of design and display, the Nexus 10 has a Super PLS TFT which is 10.1 inches and that renders an impressive resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. It weighs 603 g and has the following dimensions: 263.9 x 177.6 x 8.9 mm.

The iPad 3 on the other hand has an IPS LCD LED-backlit that measures 9.7 inches and renders an inferior resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels. The iPad 3 is heavier compared to its competitor, weighing 652 and with dimensions of 241.2 x 185.7 x 9.4 mm.

For hardware and OS, the Nexus 10 is equipped with a dual core (Cortex A15) clocked at 1.7 GHz and it features the Exynos 5250 chipset. The Nexus 10 supports two options of internal storage: 16GB and 32GB (the device doesn’t feature any microSD slot, so the memory is not expandable) and the OS for this tablet is the Android Jelly Bean (upgradable to Android KitKat).

Meanwhile, the iPad 3 is equipped with a dual core as well (the Cortex A9) that works at 1GHz. The chipset featured in iPad 3 is the Apple A5X model and for its internal memory, the tablet offers multiple choices: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB (this device also does not have a microSD slot). The iPad 3 runs on iOS 5 (upgradable to both iOS 6 and iOS 7).

For battery and camera specs, there is not much of a difference in the battery life for both tablets, but if user want a longer lasting one they should choose iPad 3. It sports a Li-Po 11560 mAh battery which guarantees a playing time of 10 hours. As for the Nexus 10, it has a Li-Po 9000 mAh battery unit which is estimated to last around 9 hours of playing time.

Both tablets came with a 5MP camera, but the Nexus 10 features both LED flash and autofocus, while the iPad 3 only features autofocus. The iPad 3 has a VGA camera for a front-facing camera, while the Nexus 10 has a 1.9MP one.

Google's Nexus 10 (32GB) cost around $369.99, while Appke's iPad 3 (32GB) cost $450.00.
