In terms of design and display, the iPhone 5C has a 4 inches LED-backlit IPS LCD display that renders a resolution of 640x1136 pixels, while the iPhone 4 has a LED-backlit IPS LCD display measuring at 3.5 inches and supports a lower resolution of 640x960 pixels. Apple has made the iPhone 5C lighter than the older model, although the device is bigger. Its dimensions are 124.4×59.2x9 mm and weighs 132 grams, while the iPhone 4 is 5 grams heavier and its dimensions are 115.2×58.6×9.3 mm.
For the hardware and OS, the iPhone 5C is equipped with a 1.3GHz dual core swift processor and has the Apple A6 chipset. Its internal memories are of 16GB and 32GB, but can’t be expanded.
The iPhone 4 on the other hand has an inferior processor – cortex A8 clocked at 1GHz, and its chipset is the older Apple A4. It has three variants of internal memories: 8, 16 and 32GB, also unexpandable.
The iPhone 5C runs on the iOS 7 OS and has 1GB of RAM, while the iPhone 4 has only 512MB of RAM and runs on the iOS 4, which is upgradeable to the iOS 7 version.
For battery usage and camera specs, both Apple smartphones have non-removable Li-Po batteries, but of different capacities. The iPhone 5C’s battery has the capacity of 1510mAh, which allows users to talk approximately 10 hours on 3G, or to listen to music for about 40 hours. The iPhone 4’s battery on the other hand, has a weaker capacity of 1420mAh and it allows users to talk for 7 hours on 3G, or to listen to music for about 40 hours.
The iPhone 5C has a more advanced primary camera: 8MP (LED flash and autofocus) and also a better secondary camera of 1.2MP. As for the iPhone 4, it has a 5MP rear camera, which has similar features, and a VGA front camera for video calls.
The iPhone 8GB variant costs around $173, while the 16GB variant cost $258 . The iPhone 5C 16GB variant costs $500 and the 32GB variant is at $577.
