Iconic rock band Guns N Roses was reportedly on a hiatus. This is according to the bassist of the band Tommy Stinson.

This news came from Blabber Mouth, a CNN heavy metal and hard rock news.

Tommy has missed several of the band's concerts in South America and the Revolver Golden Gods awards show in Los Angeles in April because he has commitments with THE REPLACEMENTS.

He told DelMarva.com about GN'R's current status following last month's completion of the group's second Las Vegas residency, "No Trickery! An Evening Of Destruction", at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Stinson stated:

"GUNS does seem to be on a hiatus now. We've been working a lot the last couple of years, so it seems like the next logical step for GUNS would probably be to go back into the studio and do some recording before we hit the road again."

Stinson was replaced by the band's former bassist Duff McKagan (who was part of GN'R from 1985 until 1993)  for GUNS N' ROSES' South American tour and the Revolver appearance.

Related news for GNR, a headline from Ultimate Rock quoting Joe Perry of Aerosmith statement: 'It Takes More Than Great Songs to Keep a Band Going'. This statement is very strong and powerful and he's talking about the GN'R defections.

Perry told USA Today, "It would be great for the original band to get back together, but it takes more than great songs to keep a band going. Slash has done an amazing job on his own."

Slash was a co-founding member of Guns N' Roses in 1985, but left the band by '96. After leaving GNR, Slash has been recording and touring more recently with Myles Kennedy. Their next album, titled 'World On Fire,' is due in September.

Perry  reportedly blamed longevity of those kind of ups and downs (of the band) with the statement:

"Some of us were teenagers when we put this together. You can't keep five people who grew up together in a rock 'n' roll band and not have some turmoil. It's amazing we kept this thing going. ZZ Top is the only other band I know of still doing it this long with the original members."
