Legendary rock band Aerosmith may never release a new album and this truly saddens the music scene. Giving us the classics like 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' in 1997, 'Dream On' in 1973, 'Janie's Got a Gun' in 1989, along with other greatest hits, the band also known as "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band" may have already reached that sense of fulfillment when it comes to the popularity of their band/ their songs.

Months ago, guitarist Joe Perry told Rolling Stone: "Our contract to Sony is fulfilled and we're free agents right now,"

"We're trying to figure out what that means. I don't even know if making new albums makes sense anymore. Maybe we'll just release an EP every six months. I don't know what the future looks like."

Such hesitation to release a new album may root from the realization that only true blood Aerosmith fans pretty much mastered their latest original compositions like 'LUV XXX', 'Legendary Child',  'Out Go the Lights', and 'Street Jesus' included in their 2012 LP Music From Another Dimension!

As per Rolling Stone, the album only reached the number 5 spot on the charts before totally fading out and none of their four singles even made it to the Billboard Hot 100. With this, Perry admitted that he was disappointed because it didn't work out that way it was supposed to.

Aside from the cold response to their recent tracks, Perry also considered some inevitable factors that appeared along the way. First was when Former Columbia Records head Steve Barnett left the label weeks before the release of the said album.  Second was when the G.I. Joe movie (which features their 'Legendary Child' single) got delayed because the staff wanted to re-film it in 3D; as a result, they weren't able to promote the track on American Idol where Steve served as part of the panel.

Looking at the brighter side of things, Perry added: "But on the other hand, once a record is out, it's out forever. Maybe in two years someone might hear a song off it and go, 'What was that song? It should have been on the radio.' And it might hit a wave again."

The guitarist further showed us the real legendary rockstar attitude as he told Rolling Stone: "It felt like a record in the old tradition to me [Music From Another Dimension!],"

"Everybody had a song on there. Brad [Whitford] wrote songs with Steven Tyler. Tom [Hamilton] wrote some himself. We had done it every other way, so we decided to go back to the old way. [Producer] Jack [Douglas] was there helping us. It worked out so well. The record was...is a great record."

After all, Aerosmith is Aerosmith. The band ranked as the third most successful group and ninth most successful artist of all-time at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), and also a consistent leader in the Best Rock Video category (bagging a total of four awards).

They also gave us the only song that debuted on the top spot of Billboard Hot 100 ('I Don't Want to Miss a Thing').

Do you think Aerosmith can still rule today's charts with some new compositions? Or should they  'Fly Away' from releasing a new album?
