Fedor Emelianenko news reveals the main reason behind "the Last Emperor's" failed UFC signing. The MMA heavyweight legend is also unimpressed by the current crop of the promotion company's roster of fighters.
In an October 2013 interview with Yahoo! Sports, UFC President Dana White revealed that they offered "The Last Emperor" a huge, undisclosed amount of money to fight, only to have the fighter and his camp turn it down, eventually.
"This is one of those deals [we offered Emelianenko] where it's like, 'This makes no [expletive] sense whatsoever,'" White said. "Literally, when we got onto the plane when we were flying back, we were like, 'Thank [expletive] God they turned that offer down.' We were like, 'Thank God they turned that down.'"
Fedor Emelianenko news reveals that in a recent interview with AXS TV, the mixed martial arts heavyweight legend declared that the UFC offered him "unacceptable conditions", thus rendering the deal to be forfeited.
"Well, the UFC didn't want me to fight there, so what could I do? We were unable to make a deal," Emelianenko said. 'They offered unacceptable conditions."
While "The Last Emperor" did not go into specifics on what the deal was exactly, he did compare the status of the UFC back in the early 2000s, when he was still fighting under PRIDE FC, which was then Asia's biggest MMA organization.
But to give credit to the UFC, Emelianenko did describe it as a "super organization."
"Currently, the UFC is a 'super organization,' in the world, probably the best," Emelianenko said. "There are several top fighters in every weight category and in general it is hard to see the whole picture, I'd say."
Fedor Emelianenko news also reveals that "The Last Emperor" is still unimpressed with the organization's current crop of figthers, despite the compliment he gave about them.
"So there are some fighters whom it is interesting to watch, but the rest of them, well, it's not interesting for me," he added.
