On Thursday, October 9 online subtitled content provider DramaFever celebrated its five year anniversary. The DramaFever 5th Anniversary Party was held at Toshi’s Living Room, a midtown Manhattan venue which also hosted INFINITE’s MTVK performance in 2013.

K-Drama and international drama fans gathered together for the opportunity to mingle with one another and speak with DramaFever staff. The party featured a live band who performed rousing renditions of K-Drama original soundtrack hits. Attendees also enjoyed the an open bar and appetizers, during the three hour party.

Invitations to the DramaFever 5th Anniversary Party were open to subscribers, with invitations also extended to members of the media. Billboard and Fuse’s Jeff Benjamin was in attendance as well as a reporter from NBC.com who was covering the phenonmena of non-Korean speakers who enjoy K-Drama.

One of the highlights of the DramaFever 5th Anniversary Party was the opportunity to see an exclusive sneak preview of “Tomorrow’s Cantabile.” “Tomorrow’s Cantabile” stars Joo Won (Good Doctor, 7th Level Civil Servant) and Shim Eun Kyung (Bad Guy). Fans attending the DramaFever 5th Anniversary Party had the opportunity to take selfies with stand-ups of Joo Won and Shim Eun Kyung, in addition to seeing the exclusive preview.

“Tomorrow’s Cantabile” will be simulcast exclusively through DramaFever and KBS2. The drama is the second production partnership for DramaFever following its involvement in the hit 2013 teen program “The Heirs.”

For many fans, events such as the DramaFever 5th Anniversary Party provide a rare chance to talk extensively with people who are watching Korean dramas. Sary and Teng were two female K-Drama fans who traveled three hours from Pennsylvania to attend the DramaFever 5th Anniversary Party. Sary has been watching DramaFever for two and half years, after being introduced to the site by Teng. When asked about her favorite drama, Sary immediately answered, “It would have to be 'Master’s Sun.' I love it.” Both Teng and Sary are watching “My Lovable Girl” starring Rain and f(x) member Krystal Jung.

DramaFever and other English subtitle sites play a significant role in penetrating the language barrier for fans of Korean drama. In the past few months, DramaFever has expanded its library of Korean movies and improved its rate of release for subtitled dramas.
