A New ‘Iron Man 4’ Star To Replace Robert Downey Jr.? 'Jurassic World' Star Ty Simpkins Says ‘Harley Could Take Over When He Gets Older’
There are rumors that a new star will be introduced in "Iron Man 4", which means that Robert Downey Jr. may finally give up his armor. Bam Smack Pow reported that Ty Simpkins will make his debut in "Iron Man 4" which will be shown in 2019. His character Harley Keener was first seen in the third installment and he was the one who helped Tony Stark capture the Mandarin.
It isn't surprising if the child star will be eyed as the next star of "Iron Man 4", who will be 17-years old by the time they start filming the sequel. Ty Simpkins has proven that he can act having earned a Saturn Awards nomination for his performance in "Iron Man 3". He also appeared in "Insidious", "Revolutionary Road", and "The Next Three Days".
Robert Downey Jr. confirmed during an interview with David Letterman that he won't be working on "Iron Man 4", but he didn't also disclose that there won't be a sequel happening soon. That started out rumors that he will be passing his role to a younger actor.
Ty Simpkins' character has a lot in common with Tony Stark, which makes him the perfect replacement for Iron Man. The teen star revealed to I Am Rouge how he portrayed Harley Keener and his relationship to Robert Downey Jr.'s character. He explained, "It said that I was cocky, like a younger Tony Stark."
The "Jurassic World" star added, "In The Avengers there is sort of this relationship between Captain America and Tony, where they are fighting and then they are friends. So we did that. Where he would throw something at me and I would give it right back to him. We would get into funny arguments and then after that be friends."
The website also asked Ty Simpkins if there's a possibility that Harley will take over Tony as the new Iron Man. He said, "Yea, I guess so, maybe not the same as Iron Man but something close to that. That would be pretty cool. Maybe if Tony Stark is over with being a super hero, because it kind of seemed like that, then Harley could take over when he gets older or build his own Iron Man suit."
