‘Fast And Furious’ Star Tyrese Gibson May Be The Next Green Lantern! Is He Taking The Role Away From Idris Elba?

Tyrese Gibson is more known for his role as Roman Pearce in the "Fast and Furious" film series.

However, he seems to be eyeing another role and may even follow the steps of his co-star Vin Diesel. Apart from portraying the role of Dominic Toretto in Universal's mega franchise, the 47-year old actor became famous for voicing over "Groot" in "Guardians of the Galaxy". Maybe that move has inspired the 36-year old musician from getting into a superhero movie.

A few months ago, Warner Bros. and DC Comics announced the cast of "Justice League" but there is one character that was not included in the list.

Green Lantern already had a standalone film just like Superman and Batman, that's why it is pretty strange that the superhero isn't included in the movie. The 2011 film starred Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, but there isn't any confirmation yet if he will do a sequel.

There were rumors that Tyrese Gibson will be the next Green Lantern. The "Fast and Furious 7" star shared the image that Raphael Leite created of him wearing a green suit on Facebook.

He posted the concept art on Instagram and captioned it, "Rumor has it that".

The former MTV VJ seems to be enjoying the attention of being labeled as the next Green Lantern as he shared the artworks created by his fans. However, there are some people who criticize the actor and some even think that he is taking the role away from Idris Elba.

There were rumors that the "Thor" star is planning to move to the DC Universe. He even shared a photo on Twitter where he was wearing the Green Lantern suit and written on it was "Rebirth". Tyrese Gibson shared a post of one of his fans who tried to clarify the Idris Elba issue on Instagram.

It says on the post: "I just want to make it clear. Even though we want Idris Elba as John Stewart, as of now, he can't take the role because of his agreement with Marvel." The fan also wrote.

"If Tyrese might be cast as John Stewart, you MUST not criticize him and give him a chance. (as you can tell, he's very serious)," he added.
