We compare Samsung's Galaxy Tab S 10.5 against Apple's iPad Air 2 to see which tablet is the better purchase.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S has obviously the bigger screen size at 10.5 inches, and its a Super AMOLED that can render a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels at 288 ppi pixel density, while the iPad Air 2 has a 9.7 LED-backlit IPS LCD screen that can render 1536 x 2048 pixels at 264 ppi pixel density. The Samsung tablet weighs around 465 grams, while the Apple tablet has two variants at 437 grams (Wi-Fi), and 444 grams (3G/LTE). The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has the following dimensions of 247.3 x 177.3 x 6.6 mm, and the iPad Air 2 is at 240 x 169.5 x 6.1 mm.

In terms of hardware and OS, the specs from GSMArena stated that the Galaxy S Tab is equipped with two sets of processors: a quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A15, and a quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7, which are powered by a Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset, and a Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. It has 3GB of RAM with two sets of internal memories of 16 and 32GB, which can expand up to 128GB. It runs on the Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat).

Meanwhile, a triplecore processor is installed in the iPad Air 2 clocked at 1.5 GHz, with the Apple A8X chipset. It has three variants of internal memory at 16,32, and 128GB with only 2GB, and runs on the iOS 8.1 software.

The Apple tablet's battery can last up to 10 hours of multimedia usage, while the Samsung tablet can last up to 11 hours with its Li-Ion 7900 mAh battery. Both tablets have 8MP primary cameras, but the Apple device's secondary camera is at 1.2 GHz, while the Samsung tablet is at 2.1MP.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.2 cost around $436, while the iPad Air 2 is at $499.
