'Tom Clancy's The Division' 2015 Release Date Too Optimistic? Ubisoft Still Doesn't Have A Functioning Game!

2015 has arrived, but Ubisoft is still mum about "Tom Clancy's The Division's" release date.

What many are expecting to be another delay, "The Division's" release date still remains to be unknown. Several reports have already suggested that developers are having a difficult time finishing the new title. Some fear that Ubisoft can't deliver what they have promised.

"In addition to standard story progression (and new content after you finish), The Division features progression systems for gear, player statistics, and your base of operation, which can be continually upgraded, Cortes said. Ubisoft will also support The Division with new content following its release, adding more hours to the main experience," Game Spot said.

In a previous "Tom Clancy's The Division" release date update, however, a source revealed that the 2015 launch could be optimistic since developers are really experiencing major setbacks.

"We've been given increased resources, we're hiring lots at the moment and are given a lot of help from other Ubisoft teams which is going to be needed if we are to deliver a finished game by next fall," a source told GameReactor.

"Sadly, I still think that the date is a tad bit optimistic as we still don't have a functioning game and still have massive problems making our multiplayer component work at the concept stage."

Ubisoft Massive managing director David Polfedt has previously addressed delay rumors, saying:

"One thing that I would really like for this industry to be able to talk about is the difficulty of predicting [release dates]. Because we often talk about dates, but the reality-and this is really coming from the trenches-is that if you have a project with say 400 people on it, you're working on a fairly new piece of hardware like the current-gen, and you're trying hard to be the best game ever, and you want to do 90+ [Metacritic], the reality is it's very hard to do that."

"It's like if I were to ask you to become a professional athlete. Yeah, you could become an athlete, but when will you be ready? It's a really hard question," he added.
