In a recent YouTube video, South Korean comedian and actress Yeon Ye Rim talked about having more than ten surgeries, including several on her eyes. Online, her comments, made during a fun but revealing conversation, have since garnered significant attention.

The YouTube channel "Hi Ssemi" released a new video called "Life's Barracks Story (ft. Yeon Ye Rim)" on February 23. It features Yeon and comedian Park Se Mi. The duo discussed their professions, the tests comedians must pass to secure employment, and the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry.

Koreaboo says that Park was upset about missed chances in broadcast comedy. She said, "When I was about to take the open audition, MBC disappeared, then SBS disappeared, then KBS disappeared, and then Comedy Big League disappeared. What's the point of KBS coming back when I'm already in my mid-30s?"
She went on to talk about how people in the same industry from different generations are different. She said, "Even newcomers these days aren't like before; they're freer. So much has changed. When I joined as a rookie, my really close friends were senior comedians? I'm just too tired to run errands now. I have back pain from getting up."
Yeon then talked about her own health problems. She said, "I've had disk surgery twice," and added, "I'm someone who's had a lot of various surgeries."
Park asked,"You haven't had LASIK, right?" Yeon replied, "I have. Why would you think I haven't?"
OSEN said that the talk then turned to a more in-depth description of her procedures. Yeon said, "I can list them all. I've opened myself up." She then revealed, "First, breast surgery, then eyes—8 times. People think if you've had eye surgery eight times, you're trying so hard to be pretty that you keep going from bigger to smaller, back and forth."
Yeon made it clear that the eye surgeries that happened over and over again were not just for looks. "But this was more like a medical accident. My eyes wouldn't close because my muscles were pulled too tight. No matter how much effort I put in, I couldn't close them. My eyesight kept worsening, and since I couldn't close my eyes, I had to do it."
Along with the eight eye surgeries, she also said she had jaw surgery, braces, dental work, two disk surgeries, LASIK, and breast surgery. Yeon said, "My body is entirely messed up. It's completely wrong."
