New updates for the third Captain America film, "Captain: America Civil War" have been revealed as the Russo Brothers have signed in with Sony along with the rumors that Spider-Man will have a cameo and Anthony Mackie replacing Chris Evans as "Cap."

According to Yahoo Movies, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have signed in a three-year contract with Sony Pictures which will take effect on April as the Russo brothers will begin the principal photography for "Captain America: Civil War" film.

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Sony production co-presidents Michael De Luca and Hannah Minghella made several statements regarding the Russo brothers working with them.

"Joe and Anthony Russo have demonstrated their ability to bring excitement, audacity and phenomenal commercial success to a variety of genres and endeavors, and we are proud to add them to the family. Their original voices and fearless execution are a tremendous addition to our studio,” Sony said.

Sony further adds, “The studio has created an environment that is not only collaborative but truly filmmaker-friendly, and we’re excited to begin developing both new and ambitious material with them.”

Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad shared his opinion on the Russo Brother's collaboration with Sony, AceShowbiz reports.

"Joe and Anthony Russo are terrifically exciting filmmakers with a sensibility that matches the tastes of audiences worldwide," Belgrad said.

Both brothers expressed their excitement in working with Sony saying, "We're thrilled to make a home at Sony Pictures, and to be partnering with the entire team," the directors stated. "The studio has created an environment that is not only collaborative, but truly filmmaker-friendly and we're excited to begin developing both new and ambitious material with them."

With Russo Brothers on board, several rumors are making rounds that they will include Spider-Man in the "Captain America: Civil War," or even helm the new "Spidey" reboot film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Screenrant, Marvel's plan for Spider-Man could expand just beyond a cameo appearance in "Civil War" as they will be looking for new faces to lead the Avengers when veterans like Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) possibly stepping down.

Speaking of stepping down, there are rumors that Anthony Mackie could replace Chris Evans as Captain America in future projects.

Mackie commented on the possiblity that Sam "Falcon" Wilson could take on the mantle of the star-spangled Avenger in the movies, similar to mainstream comics during an interview with The Windy City Live .

“Well, you know there are many incarnations in the comic book, and we are now going into the Civil War. So, if you look at it in the comic book, Cap gives Bucky the shield, Bucky gives it back to Cap, Cap gives it to me… Then Bucky goes off and marries Black Widow, so I keep the shield, give it back to Cap, and recently Cap wanted to be old, so he gave me the shield back and now I got the shield; I’m not giving it back,” Mackie said in the interview.

"Captain America: Civil War" will be in theaters on May 6, 2016.
