Looks like UFC Lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis firmly believes that Anderson Silva cannot opt for cheating.

Mixed martial artist and current UFC Lightweight Champion Pettis says that he does not believe the former middleweight champion Silva knowingly cheated.

According to InsidePulse, Pettis said he just can't see Silva consenting to cheating. He doesn't think that is something Silva would do. He explained, saying, that a fighter is at that high of a level, fans want to see him back and there's money to be made if he fights again. Pettis speculates somebody probably gave Silva stuff that he did not know what it was and hopes he had no idea what it was.

Silva recently debunked speculations that he used performance-enhancing drugs before or after his fight with Nick Diaz in an exclusive interview with TMZ. Silva recently came under fire from UFC after his positive tests for steroids. However, there are some high-profile people that believe his issues are not as simple as they look. UFC Lightweight Champion Pettis is one such defender.

According to BloodyElbow Pettis believes fans, particularly those who don't follow the sport very closely, are simply jumping the gun and accusing Silva of doing things that don't hold up when you look at his history. Pettis said people can't take away what Silva has done for the sport for just one mistake that he probably didn't even make.

Pettis blame casual fans for accusing Silva of cheating his whole career. He says, these fans don't have an idea what it takes to get where he is at. Pettis explained people are quick to judge even when nobody knows what's going on.

Before Silva fought Diaz, he was coming off a brutal broken led which fueled speculations that the positive tests may have had something to do with his recovery and not evidence that Silva was cheating. Silva is set to plead his case in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission later this month.

Pettis is scheduled to put his title against Rafael dos Anjos this weekend at UFC 185.
