It looks like Sony has revealed the possible price range and release date for its VR headgear, Project Morpheus as they will showcase more details and games at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

The Fuse Joplin reportedly claimed that Project Morpheus will cost around $150 to $200 when the VR headgear is out on market. An executive from Sony has confirmed that Project Morpheus will not be too pricey but they will do their best to keep the pricing as low as possible.

“I may not be able to confirm an approximate price point for now but the company is definitely going to keep it very low. There is no target price for the executives in mind and we are trying to reduce the cost of hardware as far as possible. Developers should be able to enjoy a market similar to consoles. We have that in mind when deciding the final price,” Sony said.

PC Pro previously reported that Project Morpheus could be around £200 ( $306.82 USD) to £300 ( $460.16 USD), but since this is an official decision made by Sony, gamers will feel relieved to buy the VR headgear now that it is less expensive than it was originally thought out to be.

So what do we know so far about Project Morpheus?

Project Morpheus is said to be equipped with a 5.7-inch OLED display that can render a resolution of 1920 x RGB x 1020 pixels, Gamerant reports.

While another report from PC Pro claimed that Project Morpheus' display is a Full HD 1080p LCD that renders a resolution of 960 x 1080 pixels.

Gamerant adds that its main body is a black curved visor with white and has a LED-illuminated edging which is held on with a strap that goes all the way round the head. Project Morpheus has a very bulky sensor, but it makes gamers feel lighter and comfortable since the slit at the bottom of the player's field allows for more light bleeding that reduces motion sickness.

BBC News reports that Project Morpheus can handle graphics at 120fps, upscale games from 60fps to 120fps, and has nine tracking LEDs, which Sony managed to get the headset’s latency down to 18 milliseconds or less.

Sony Computer Entertainment President Shuhei Yoshida has announced more details for Project Morpheus at E3 2015 in June at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA. VG24/7 adds that Sony will likely develop and unveil new games for the VR headset during its live demo in the event.

Project Morpheus' release date is set on the first half of 2016.
