Chevy Volt Electric Vehicle Can Drive An Estimated 38 Miles Without Gas? EV Charging Cost Is About $1.70 Per Day?

Chevrolet produced a hybrid car that allows car enthusiasts to drive without using gas as the Chevy Volt electric vehicle can drive an estimated 38 miles on pure electricity.

"For less than the cost of a latte, you can fully charge your Volt and drive an EPA-estimated 38 miles gas-free. Choose a standard 120V charging unit† that allows you to fully charge the battery in about 10 to 16 hours. Or opt for an available 240V charging station that cuts down your charging time to approximately four hours," Chevrolet website stated.

According to the website, charging cost based on national average of 12 cents per kWh is about $1.70 per day.

"That 38-mile electrical charge is going to be a truer charge, when you hit the breaks it's going to help recharge the battery like the previous model but it does a little bit better job of it as well," sales manager Ryan Serpentini said as noted by fox8.com.

The automaker's website also expounded how Chevy Volt electric vehicle work. It 'uses the energy stored in the battery before seamlessly transitioning to the gas-powered generator' where drivers can travel for up to 380 miles in full charge and full tank of gas.

Aside from the gas-less drive, Chevy Volt electric vehicle also boasts of an OnStar RemoteLink for use with a mobile device.

"You can control your vehicle from your phone from wherever you are," Serpentini said.

"If you're in California and your car is in Ohio you can lock your car, you can start your car or you can check to make sure everything is up to speed as far as making sure the tire pressure is okay, if you need an oil change, you can check all of those things from your phone," he added.

The Chevy Volt electric vehicle has eight hidden airbags for safety. Its 2014 model received a 5-Star Overall Score for Safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
