There may be a little time travel in Kam Woo Sung's future. The actor is considering a role in the upcoming drama "Saimdang, the Herstory," which shifts focus between the past and the present.

According to his agency, he is currently discussing appearing in the drama but nothing has been confirmed yet. If he takes the role, his co-star will be actress Lee Young Ae, who is making her drama comeback after 11 years. She took some time off from acting to devote to raising a family.

Kim Woo Sung's last drama appearance was the leading role in " My Spring Days" with co-star Choi Soo Young Of Girls Generation. Before appearing in that drama, he played Geun Cho Go Wang in the 2011 series "The King of Legend."

In "Saimdang, the Herstory," Lee Young Ae will play two roles, the brilliant real-life artist of the Joseon era and a modern-day Korean art lecturer and art historian. The lecturer finds Saimdang's diary and tries to solve a mystery that relates to a portrait.

It is not yet known whether Kam Woo Sung is being asked to play a character that is in the present or the past. Or perhaps he will co-exist in both timelines.

The real artist Shin Saimdang lived in the 16th century and is one of the most respected women in Korean history. Her artwork is known for its delicate depictions of natural subjects such as flowers, butterflies and fish. She was not only a poet and an artist but also the mother of Confucian scholar Lee Yul Gok. She managed to realize her dream of being an artist in a time when women's roles were strictly confined. She was the first woman to appear on a South Korean banknote.

"Saimdang, The Herstory" was planned with Lee Young Ae in mind. Group 8, the company producing the SBS drama, said that the drama is due to air in 2016 and because of Lee Young Ae's many Chinese fans may possibly air in China at the same time. Lee Young Ae is very popular in China and Japan because of her 2005 film "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" and her role in the 2003 drama "Jewel in the Palace."

Park Eun Ryung, who wrote "Second Proposal" and "Saving Mrs. Go Bong Shil," will write the screenplay for "Saimdang, the Herstory." Filming for the drama is expected to start in June.
