ZOMBIE MAMMA'S DRAMA REVIEW: Sensory Couple Episodes 7-8

The Barcode Killer strikes again, the police are finally starting to use their brains, Cho Rim keeps dancing with danger, Moo Gak finds himself inches from death and... Oh yeah! We've got not one but two OTP kisses to squeal loudly over. With so much going on, what are we doing wasting our time on introductions? We've got a show to discuss!

We left off last week with a pretty significant breakthrough in the case of the Barcode Killer. The police had finally decided using their brains might be a good idea and the results were both surprising and gruesome. It turns out Moo Gak's theory about the barcodes on the victims being usable was spot on and it only goes to show this killer is seriously sick. Labeling his victims like book is bad enough but making them write their own biography before killing them is just all kinds of messed up! What I want to know is, why in the world would Dr. Chun leave clues for his killer, telling him the only witness to his murders is alive? That just doesn't make sense to me! Last week I was convinced Dr. Chun was innocent, having nothing to do with these murders but now I'm rethinking everything! Was Dr. Chun really an accomplice? Maybe he was in on some parts of this killer's nefarious plans but not all of them? If he was in on them, why would he be the next victim? We were certainly led to believe Dr. Chun was going to turn Jae Hee in but now I just don't know what's going on. Is this leaving of clues a final sign of friendship between a lonely doctor and a psychotic, serial killing, celebrity chef?

While I have no answers when it comes to Dr. Chun, I do know that Chef Kwon Jae Hee is one of the most terrifying villains I've ever had the pleasure of watching. This man is seriously messed up but the order by which he carries out all of his heinous acts is just amazing! Jae Hee is literally an evil genius and I can't help but be in awe of the way he plots and plans and executes his... uhh... missions? (Is that really the right word to use here?) The level of detail he gives to each of his plans, the way he times everything, the way he covers all his bases and leaves no loose ends is truly admirable while at the same time absolutely terrifying. If this man wants to kill you, he's going to kill you and he's going to make sure no one knows about your death until he's good and ready for someone to find you. Of course I can't sit here and say that Jae Hee is completely without mistakes because he's obviously made two very big ones. The first being the failed attempt to murder Choi Eun Seol three years ago and the second being the failed attempt to murder Moo Gak. While I'm happy Moo Gak survived this attack, I'm not at all at ease with the way things played out at the hospital. The fact that the police laid a trap so easily picked up on by Jae Hee has me wondering how the heck they're ever going to catch this guy. He's always one step ahead and I know everyone is saying the killer now knows Moo Gak doesn't actually know his identity but that doesn't make me sleep any better at night. If you ask me, Moo Gak is still very much in danger. If not because Jae Hee thinks he knows who he is then because Jae Hee doesn't like the fact Moo Gak is stealing Cho Rim's attention. Yeah, I'm not sure it's a good idea to make a serial killer jealous...

I have to admit, I spent a lot of time this past week worrying about Cho Rim playing into Chef Kwon's hands and I have a feeling this sense of dread I've got settling in the pit of my stomach is gonna take up permanent residence, at least until this psycho is behind bars. The fact that Cho Rim is drawing every closer to Jae Hee has me seriously uneasy. The more he asks of her, the more she's bound to him and that's going to make it insanely easy for him to take her out, especially once he realizes she's the witness he's been searching for. It's a good thing Jae Hee has a problem recognizing faces because if he didn't have this problem, Cho Rim would have been toast ages ago! While it may see strange for a serial killer to have such an unusual disability, it does make sense in the grand scheme of the story. If Jae Hee was able to see people as they are, he would have never mistaken Moo Gak's sister for the witness and that would have kept her from dying and Moo Gak from ever joining the police force. As you can see, this disability plays a pretty big role in this story and I suddenly find myself wondering if it's not this disability that's going to save Cho Rim in the end. If Jae Hee can walk right by someone without knowing it's them, that means a desperate Cho Rim would have at least a slight chance of escaping him, should she ever find herself in his clutches.

Before I get ahead of myself with theories, predictions and whatnot, let's talk a little about our adorable OTP and how flippin' cute Moo Gak is as he begins to come to terms with his feelings for Cho Rim. Oh my goodness! With Moo Gak being so very senseless, his reactions to things are very understated which is why his subtle little smiles and nervous shuffles are so ridiculously squee-worthy. Anytime you can get an unfeeling man to react, even a little, you know you've made an impression and Cho Rim has definitely made an impression on Moo Gak. Yippee! Cho Rim is much more obvious with her feelings, as she so clearly demonstrated with her wild sobbing over Moo Gak at the hospital, and I think that went a long way to confirm Moo Gak's growing suspicions about her feelings. Of course the little peck on that tram ride didn't hurt anything (So cute!) but I think it was definitely the hospital visit that convinced Moo Gak it was okay to start making some moves. And oh boy did he! That second kiss may not have been the most amazing in the history of the Dramaverse but it certainly wasn't bad! It's always great when that moment of initial shock melts into mutual enjoyment and I think it's safe to say both parties enjoyed that kiss!

While these moments of adorableness fill me with all the warm-fuzzies, there's a lot more going on in this drama and I'm loving the way my brain is being forced to work. There's still a lot of mystery to be solved here and though the police are finally starting to close in on the Barcode Killer, they've still got a long way to go before they're ready to make any conclusions as to who he really is. In the meantime, both Moo Gak and Cho Rim run the risk of being the killer's next target and that makes me incredibly uneasy. While these two are a fantastic crime-solving duo, they're severely lacking on their own and should Chef Kwon stumble upon this fact, he would have an easy time of taking one or both of them out. The question is, will this be what he decides to do? Is he going to start searching for the Choi Eun Seol he thought he killed three years ago? How long is it going to take for the clues left by Dr. Chun to lead to Cho Rim? How long after that do you think it will take for Jae Hee to act upon this new discovery? Now that the police are starting to unravel this serial killer mystery, how long is it going to take for the clues to eventually lead to Jae Hee? Do you think those clues are going to be enough to point to our handsome, psycho chef or has he covered his tracks too well?

There are still so many questions to ask and so many answers yet to be found and I, for one, couldn't be happier. There's nothing a drama-loving zombie loves more than a drama that keeps her coming back for more!
