On May 13, CJ Entertainment announced the North American premiere of the crime thriller, "The Chronicles of Evil." The gripping tale stars Son Hyun Joo, Choi Daniel and Park Seo Joon. "The Chronicles of Evil" will premiere in North America on May 22 in cities including New York, Toronto, Chicago and Los Angeles.

The film, which is written and directed by Baek Woon Hak, explores the moral complexities of murder.

Son Hyun Joo (The Chaser, Secretly, Greatly) leads the cast as Choi Chang Sik, a decorated homicide detective. He is on the brink of a job promotion when he accidentally commits murder. As he is departing from a celebration, he hails a taxi. The taxi driver diverges from his desired location and attacks Choi.  He retaliates against the driver and kills him, in self-defense.

His high-powered promotion serves as a catalyst for Choi to devise an intricate cover-up of his crime. Choi is startled when the murder victim is found, hanging at a construction site. He takes on the investigation and attempts to evade fellow police officers. His anxiety escalates when the police station receives a call from an unnamed source.

Actor Choi Daniel (Cyrano Agency) portrays Kim Jin Gyu, a key character who helps to shape the plot of the thriller. He is best known for his roles in romantic comedies, but he successfully embraced darker subject matter for the 2014 melodrama, "Big Man."

Park Seo Joon transitions from his portrayal of a soft-hearted romantic to effortlessly tackle the role of Detective Cha Dong Jae. Dong Jae is a rookie detective whose drive to solve the case helps to lead the perilous circumstances of the film. Park debuted with his appearance in the 2011 music video for the Bang Yong Guk solo track, "I Remember." He followed this appearance with a role in the film "Perfect Game."

He is recognized by K-Drama fans for his portrayal of Si Woo in the 2012 musical series "Dream High 2," followed by his portrayal of Yoon Dong Ha in "Witch's Romance." "Witch's Romance" was a 2014 romantic comedy which highlighted the relationship of Ban Ji Yeon (Uhm Jung Hwa), a 41-year-old investigative reporter who falls in love with Dong Ha, a 25-year-old part-time worker. The series was a remake of the 2009 Taiwanese hit, "My Queen."

"The Chronicles of Evil" is rated 15 and over, for graphic violence. Theater information and showtimes can be found on the CJ Entertainment website
