Following the super-slim R5, it looks like Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has shifted its focus back to specs after the launch of two new models, the R7 and the R7 Plus, which boast of an array of awe-inspiring features.

On Thursday, May 21, Oppo launched two new models: the 5-inch R7 and the 6-inch R7 Plus at a dedicated event in Beijing, China. Priced at CNY 2,499 (around $400) and CNY 2,999 (around $483), respectively. The smartphones are currently available for pre-orders from JD.com as well as Oppostyle websites.

The R7 is reportedly scheduled to go on sale in mid-June, while the R7 Plus is said to go on sale in August. Details about global availability, however, are still not provided despite the fact that the phones are already listed on Oppo's global site, according to reports on NDTV Gadgets.

The bigger phone of the two sports a 7.75mm-thick aluminium unibody that packs a good 4,100 mAh battery which complements the company's well-known VOOC rapid charging, a feature that has turned out to be faster than most of Oppo's competitors.

In addition, the device also features a single-touch fingerprint sensor on the back, and an 8MP f/2.4 front imager. It also features a 13MP f/2.2 main camera coupled with an RGBW sensor (Sony's IMX278) that enhances sensitivity in the dark, and a laser auto-focus and dual-tone LED flash, Engadget noted.

The VOOC flash charging technology is rated to give two hours of talk time in just five minutes of charging and charge the smartphones by 75 percent in just 30 minutes.

As far as design in concerned, both smartphones boast of a 2.5D glass that covers the front panel, and the rear sports what Oppo calls "violin arc" design. The R7 comes with three physical capacities key i.e. back, home and menu, while the R7 Plus on the other hand features on-screen buttons.

Specifications wise, both the handset feature the same details except the Android version, screen size, inbuilt storage space, battery capacity and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The R7 runs Android 4.4 Kitkat-based ColorOS 2.1, 5-inch full HD AMOLED display, features 16GB of inbuilt storage, and is backed by a 2320 mAh battery. In addition, it offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity. The R7 Plus, on the contrary runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based ColorOS 2.1, sports a 6-inch full-HD AMOLED display, 32GB of inbuilt storage, a 4,100 mAh battery and offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac connectivity.

Both smartphones offer an option to further expand the inbuilt storage up to 128GB via microSD card. Moreover, both the 4G LET-enabled handsets will be available in Gold and Silver color options.

The R7 and R7 Plus are dual SIM (Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM) smartphones and are 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 i.e. (quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core 1GHz Cortex-A53 processor. According to Oppo, the devices using the Pure Image 2.0+ technology are capable of creating an Ultra-HD 50MP resolution images. The company also claims that the rear camera will launch in 0.7 seconds and the auto-focusing takes just 0.1 seconds.

The R7 measures 143x71x6.3 mm, and weighs 147 grams, the R7 Plus measures 158.18x82.3x7.75 mm and weighs 203 grams.
