iPhone Text Message Glitch Causes iOS To Crash When Someone Texts A String Of Arabic Characters; Apple Is Currently Working On A Fix For The iMessage Issue!

iPhone users are terrorized by a single line of text that can crash their devices.

Crashing someone's iPhone is now as easy as sending a text message with a string of Arabic text owing to a bug in Apple's iOS. The single line of text can reportedly freeze as well as shutdown iPhones.

If several reports by technology blogs are anything to go by, a specific text message sent to an iPhone from any device, can cause the phone to crash, shut down and turn back on.

But that's not all, Fortune noted that in some cases, few users are unable to access messages again unless the sender sends yet another text message. The other way the recipient can return the phone to normal is by responding to the sender from a different device, such as an iMessage-enabled iPad or Mac.

The message also affects the Apple Watch, in case it's associated with the same device to which the text message was sent.

The tech giant Apple said in a statement to CNBC, "We are aware of an iMessage issue caused by a specific series of Unicode characters and we will make a fix available in a software update."

Users on Reddit, on the other hand have been discussing the issue and how to fix it.

Reddit user cbhunt14 revealed the message on Reddit late Tuesday. Citing the media attention some have now turned the system glitch into a prank to turn off the devices of their friends and people they know, CNBC noted.

There is no information about this either being an accidental bug or a sort of failsafe that the tech giant intended by design, but several news sites have suggested the cause of the bug is a problem with how the iPhone displays Arabic text.
