'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 Spoilers: Patrick Dempsey Replaced By Martin Henderson! Meredith Grey's New Love Interest?

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 spoilers revealed that Shonda Rhimes has found a replacement for Patrick Dempsey. It was said that Martin Henderson will be the new McDreamy in the ABC series.

According to "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 spoilers from Deadline, Martin Henderson will be joining the medical drama in view of Patrick Dempsey's dismissal. Although his character details have yet to be revealed, it was mentioned that he will be the new surgeon in the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

In the season 11 episode, titled "How to Save a Life," Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) was killed after being hit by a truck. The episode then fast forwarded to a year after the horrible tragedy showing Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeop) seeminly moved on from the death of her husband.

Could Henderson's character be the new love interest of Meredith Grey? Kdramastars previously reported that the ABC executives are currently "looking to add a major new male presence" in an effort to appease fans who are still disappointed over Derek's death. Since the announcement, several fans have speculated that the new doctor would take Derek's place in Meredith's life.

On the other hand, some "Grey's Anatomy" spoilers hinted that Meredith will also get killed in season 12. According to Zap2It, she could also be exiting the show soon, following her battle with Alzheimer's disease.

"As the show heads into Season 12, it's time to ask is Meredith's greatest battle about to begin? If you look back, the writers of 'Grey's' have been preparing for Meredith to develop Alzheimer's for several seasons but have been particularly heavy-handed in Season 11," the site reported.

The website further reported that focusing on Meredith Grey's story would be a great way to send her character off. They even added that Pompeo could potentially win an Emmy if she played her character right.
