2NE1's Dara And Kang Seung Yoon Make Sweet Music For 'We Broke Up'
On June 24, YG Entertainment released the first full preview for the upcoming drama, "We Broke Up." The footage features a delightful musical segment from 2NE1's Dara (Sandara Park) and Kang Seung Yoon of WINNER. Their voices are well-matched as they deliver the acoustic pop song, which serves as the soundtrack for the drama teaser.
In the preview, the stars display their on-screen chemistry and the potential for musical collaboration. While her vocals in 2NE1 are often incorporated in dance-pop tracks, Dara proves her ability to sing folk and pop-rock songs. Kang has demonstrated his potential within the pop-rock realm, through his solo release "Wild and Young," and during acoustic performances of WINNER's "Color Ring."
Based on a Naver web toon, the musical web drama will air through OnStyle, YG K-Plus TV and YG Entertainment. "We Broke Up" is the first web series from YG, following the recent popularity of dramas including "EXO Next Door" and "Dream Knight."
Dara stars as No Woo Ri, a practical woman who is struggling to secure full-time employment. Kang Seung Yoon portrays Ji Won Young, an indie-rocker who works several part-time jobs to support his music career. The couple once enjoyed a happy relationship, before enduring a tough breakup. They are reunited when Woo Ri is forced to move in with Won Young.
The web drama will also prominently feature models-turned-actors from the YG K-Plus roster. Kang Seung Hyun, the 2008 recipient of Ford's Supermodel of the World, appears in the series as record producer Yoo Ni Na. Jang Ki Yong is also featured in a starring role.
"We Broke Up" premieres on June 29 at 7 p.m. KST.
