Ben Affleck's Friendly Reunion With Jennifer Lopez Was The Factor Behind His Break-Up With Jennifer Garner [Rumors]
Looks like Ben Affleck's growing closeness to his former flame Jennifer Lopez in the months before he and Jennifer Garner split up had nothing to do with their decision to go separate ways.
In a statement released a day after their 10th wedding anniversary, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner accepted that they are finally calling it quits.
HollywoodLife cites a new report that suggests Affleck's friendly reunion with Jennifer Lopez at the 2015 Oscars was the final straw as far as his relationship with Jennifer Garner was concerned. In fact, rumors doing rounds hinted a possible romantic reconciliation sending Jen over the edge.
Moreover, according to an unfounded rumor, Affleck was in regular contact with Jennifer Lopez, his ex-fiancé and their friendship, and it was the reason behind his split from Jennifer Garner. However, sources close to the situation told Us Weekly that JLo is not connected with the once-happy couple's recent decision to divorce in any way.
Another source of the rumor stated, "Jennifer Lopez had nothing to do with it," one insider tells Us of Garner and Affleck's breakup, which they announced on Tuesday, June 30, one day after their 10th wedding anniversary."
"Beyond not true, and s--ty," the source added.
Known to the world as Bennifer, Affleck romanced Lopez back in the early aughts. They even got engaged in Nov. 2002 and intended to marry the next year. However, after postponing their Sept. 2003 wedding, they called it quits for good in Jan. 2004.
JLo has accepted in the past that Affleck was in fact her "first big heartbreak." But both she and the "Gone Girl" actor moved on from the Bennifer aeon, personally as well as professionally.
The 45-year-old "Booty" singer went on to marry Marc Anthony few months after breaking up with Affleck. They even had two kids together, twins Max and Emme, before separating in 2011.
Meanwhile the "Batman v Superman" star walked down the aisle with Garner in June 2005. They have three kids together, daughters Violet, 9, and Seraphina, 6, and son Samuel, 3, of whom the "Daredevil" costars will share joint custody.
"They've been married for a long time and tried to make it work for many years," a source told Us Weekly of why Affleck and Garner called it quits.
"They eventually realized this is the best thing to do for their family. They don't want it to be contentious. A lot of people say that, but they are doing things to ensure that it won't be. There is a lot of love there, but they are doing what is best for everybody," the source added.
Talking about the exes' friendly reunion, an insider told The Sun that "they were pretty flirty at the Oscars and have stayed in touch via email. Jennifer Garner never liked it."
"Everyone is talking about JLo and Ben and saying it's inevitable they will get together again at some point," the insider added.
