Microsoft Releases Office 2016 For Mac In 139 Countries And 16 Languages; The Newest Version Is Up For Grabs For Office 365 Subscribers!

Microsoft has released Office 2016 for Mac, which will encompass new versions of Word, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, and PowerPoint for Apple computers.

Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president for the Office Client Applications and Services team announced the news on Office Blogs on Thursday, July 9.

"Today we are taking a big step forward for Mac® users-Office 2016 for Mac is now available in 139 countries and 16 languages," Koenigsbauer wrote in the blog post.

Based on feedback from the great Mac Office community, we've made major updates to each of the apps, and we couldn't be more pleased to deliver it first to our Office 365 customers," Koenigsbauer added.

The tech giant launched a preview of Office 2016 for Mac a few months ago. The last notable Office release for Mac was Office 2011, Forbes noted.

Office 2016 is available in 139 countries and 16 languages. Moreover, the new version of Office for Mac offers support for Retina displays, the signature ribbon interface, task panes, cloud integration, Multi-Touch gestures along with a Full Screen view mode.

"Office for Mac is cloud-connected, so you can quickly get to the documents you've recently used on other devices and pick up where you left off. New, built-in document sharing tools make it easy to invite teammates to work on a document together," Koenigsbauer said in a blog post.

Koenigsbauer added, "When sharing documents, you won't have to worry about losing content or formatting, as Office for Mac offers unparalleled compatibility with Office on PCs, tablets, phones and online."

Word 2016

Word 2016 boasts a new Design tab that allows users to effortlessly change the layout, colors and fonts within their document. In addition Word 2016 has a collaboration feature that allows users to work on the same document simultaneously with their colleagues. In addition, the collaboration feature has threaded comments to let users have a conversation next to the corresponding text.

Excel 2016

As part of a new chart preview feature, Excel 2016 for Mac suggests befitting charts for users' data. Excel 2016 also has autocomplete and formula builder improvements, which will save users' time when it comes to creating spreadsheets or entering data. To set up deeper analysis, Excel 2016 comes with a new PivotTable Slicers to help users to filter large amounts of data.


PowerPoint 2016 

PowerPoint 20106 for Mac has an enhanced Presenter View that shows the current slide, next slide, speaker notes and timer on your Mac screen, which is similar to the feature in PowerPoint for iOS. While the audience will only be able to see the current slide on the bigger screen, the Presenter View will help user to stay prepared while giving the presentation.

In addition, there is a new animation pane that allows users to design and fine-tune the animations and slide transitions.

Outlook For Mac

The tech giant, Microsoft released a new version of Outlook for Mac in October. Outlook for Mac boasts several new mail-related features including push mail support, an enhanced conversation view and a message preview feature. The conversation view automatically organizes the inbox around threaded conversations and the message preview feature displays the first sentence of an email below the subject line.

OneNote for Mac

Office 2016 for Mac includes a new version of OneNote. OneNote is an application that lets users capture ideas in digital notebooks and review them on any device. OneNote can be used to search tags, typed notes, images, text in images and handwritten notes. After a user finishes editing the notebook, it can be shared with friends and family, thus allowing everyone to collaborate on a project.

The launch for Office 2016 on OS X is a chance for Apple users to get their hands on a new Microsoft suite. The Windows version of Office 2016, on the other hand is not expected to arrive until later this year.

In order to get the suite, users will need an Office 365 subscription.
